Chosen for its strategic location perched atop a Karst limestone formation in the Cockpit Country of Jamaica's interior, Accompong Town stands as a testament to those who fought against England's Colonial Rule opting instead for Freedom.

What is presented here is the best information available about the original Maroons and a snapshot of life in present day Accompong Town provided by the residents, relatives and occasional visitors who love this town and their people wishing only to preserve their heritage and to promote a better future for all to enjoy and cherish.

Because most written history was penned by those who were adversaries and most oral history has been filtered through a prism of folklore and traditional song, an attempt has been made to marry the facts and fiction to the traditional wisdom and folklore hoping to produce something educational as well as entertaining.
